Lili White – Moving Pictures

Using stylized gestures as a mode of ritualistic format and screen performance, White’s modus operandi often explores subjects of relationships of power and repression. Drawing from ancient stories and texts re-contextualized into meditations on the world in which we live and the ramifications of inaction and stagnation, it is informed by art, Eastern philosophies and psychological theory. White’s work has been called “a magical act.” She approaches editing with a technique akin to “automatic” writing.
