“My Space”
poem by Lili White © 2004
You’re standing in the same place.
You’re standing in the same place as me.
The place where I was
The place where I am
The same place as me.
You Me
In the same square foot my brother
In the same square foot my sister
On the same plot of land my mother
On the same plot of land my father
In the same train my cousin
In the same train my neighbor
You’re standing in my place
You Me
On the border of recognizing you
On the border of seeing you
I can’t find you
On the border of saying you
I can’t catch you
When I see you in the morning
When I see you in the evening
When I see you at night
I can’t find you
Where are you going?
Where have you gone?
I don’t see you
What are you thinking?
Where did you go?
I can’t reach you
Split open my mind
